diSerial — Software Introduction
1. Overview
diSerial is the official companion software for the diDatatracker serial sniffer. It is fully open source under the Apache-2.0 license and free for all users.Designed for embedded development, device debugging, protocol analysis, and production-line maintenance, it is a stable, transparent, andcontrollable serial communication and data recording tool.
diSerial works in two modes:
- Single-Serial Mode: A fully featured standard serial terminal that supports parameter configuration and data transmission/reception, capable of
handling routine serial communication tasks on its own.
- Dual-Serial Mode: Works in tandem with the diDatatracker hardware to passively sniff bidirectional RS232 / RS485 / TTL links, merging TX and
RX data onto a single timeline to reconstruct the complete communication flow in real time.

2. Key Features
- Bidirectional Data Sniffing: Paired with diDatatracker, it monitors bidirectional traffic without interfering with the target link, displaying TX/RX
data merged by timestamp — ideal for protocol reverse engineering and fault diagnosis.
- Recording & Export: Both modes support real-time recording of raw data and export to files for offline analysis, archiving, and team sharing.
- Nine UI Languages: Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, English, 日本語, Français, Deutsch, Español, Italiano, and Português.
- Cross-Platform: Supports Windows 10 / 11 (x86 and ARM64 architectures); a macOS version is in active development.
3. Companion Hardware — diDatatracker
- Passively sniffs RS232 / RS485 / TTL (3.3V/5V) data in both directions with zero interference to the link under test.
- 3000Vrms signal isolation + 1500V power isolation protect both the device and the data.
- USB-C plug-and-play— no extra drivers or complex wiring required.
4. Open Source & Security
- Auditable Open Source: The complete source code is hosted on GitHub and can be reviewed and verified by anyone.
- No Network Code: diSerial contains no network communication code and runs fully offline — no risk of data exfiltration.
- No Account Required: No registration, no subscription, and no collection of user information.
- Apache-2.0 License: A permissive open-source license that permits free use, modification, and distribution for both personal and commercial projects.
